The movie, The Gods Must Be Crazy, demonstrates how different people from the U.S view things than how people in Kalahari Desert did. When the guy dropped the bottle from the plane and the bushman found it, he thought it was the greatest thing ever. He was so unaware of everything else in the world that he thought the bottle was dropped by the gods. A simple bottle that someone else from the U.S made meant nothing to us but to the people from Kalahari it meant something way beyond special. People from the U.S used it once and threw it away, while people from Kalahari kept reusing it. People from the U.S see nothing special from the bottle to them its just a bottle that’s only good for drinking a soda. In the other hand people from Kalahari thought that the gods sent them that as a useful gift so they used it and used it.
Even though the bottle was just a bottle to the modern world and it caused no trouble to them, although at first they thought it was a gift from the gods but later on through out the movie they thought it was a punishment. The bushman ended up going completely crazy for it. The bottle brought so many troubles to the bushman, for example everyone started fighting over it and who was going to use it. In the modern world we use it and throw it away, a bottle is the last of the modern’s world problem. The bottle ended up causing so much dysfunction to their world that the bushman decided to go throw the bottle at the end of the world, which to them was off a cliff.
The life that the bushman lived seemed so kicked back, they didn’t really worry about anything. In their world there’s no jealousy or hatred towards each other. Even though they have no electronics or anything they used in the modern world, they were very content with what they had. They were very unaware of the outer world. To me it seemed like they thought they were the only one’s who existed. The difference between the modern world was that they worried constantly about everything that was going on around them because they were aware of it. There was hate and anger between people because everyone wanted what the others had. They constantly yelled at each other and didn’t appreciate what others did for them while the Bushmen appreciated each other and had patience towards one another.
